I live in residence right now and go home on weekends, but that is only because I have to work on weekends and it would be a killer to go from school to work. If I didn't work on the weekends I would more than likely just stay at residence.

Advantages that I can think of:
-Free laundry
-Free home-cooked meals
-Your own bed

Disadvantages that I can think of:
-Missing out on hanging out with friends over the weekends
-Might be considered a "loser" for not socializing
-Gas money, more miles on your car
-Might become too dependent on family, not dependent on self like you should be in college.

I seriously do not go home almost at all during the school year, and I didn't last year either.  It is like a two-hour drive home, and plus, I like living on my own and being able to do pretty much whatever I want.  I went home for breaks and such, and it took a little getting used to, being back under my parents' roof and following the rules again.  However, I do miss my family sometimes, but I have really great friends in my mod, so I guess it balances out.
