Halliburton already is selling off its shares of KBR. But I doubt that will do much to enhance the image of Halliburton.

I am merely extending the point made earlier in this argument about the iraq war being similar to the vietnam in that the iraqi tactics have undermined the american military just as the vietnamese did. But I wouldn't expect you to have thought about that eh?

...too many arm chair warriors...too little experiance...
Filipinos do not get paid $5.00 a day. In their home country, median daily rate is currently around $4.20 a day.
In Iraq, the minimum they make is $36.60 per day. Minimum. I used to sign off on their timesheets with PPI. Thats just under 9 TIMES what they would make back home.
I'm an expat and even I don't get 9 Times my former stateside wage. I dont even get 4 times.
Halliburton spun of KBR already--their 82% oownership is limited to owning shares as investment and they only control it as much as those shares carry votes for the board. But yea, they can still theoretically run the company. That, however, whould just contiunue to be a PR nightmare and I can tell you that KBR is always sending us these new re-branding kits.
one parting thought thou...90% of the negative info in the media about us is untrue...the 10 percent that is true has been mixed with rumor and what not. bigest lie: LOGCAP was NOT a no-bid contract. The RIO contract was....and has long since been cancelled and given directly to KBR's competators (who had to hire KBR people because they werent qualified to do it themselves). LOGCAP was openly and publicly put out for bid before the war was ever being built-up.

You have to admit it was probably the lamest PR stunt in recent history by a US president aside from the "I didn't have sex with that woman" thing. The difference of course is that Bush's PR fiasco still affects us today, while Clinton's personal PR fiasco was his own.

guerilla tactics? cowardice? its a legitimate strategy. they obviously wont win if they fight us straight on, so what the hell else are they going to do? give up? and regardless of whether its cowardice or not, theyre doing it and we cant just tell them to stop. in any case, i agree with deadeye.

You mean this?
White House spokesman Scott McClellan told CNN that in preparing for the speech, Navy officials on the carrier told Bush aides they wanted a "Mission Accomplished" banner, and the White House agreed to create it. "We took care of the production of it," McClellan said. "We have people to do those things. But the Navy actually put it up."
"The banner was a Navy idea, the ship's idea," Chun said. "The banner signified the successful completion of the ship's deployment," he said, noting the Abraham Lincoln was deployed 290 days, longer than any other nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in history.
Sure. The banner referred to something else. But you have to admit having Bush in full flight suit with that banner behind and his speech to go with that was not the wisest thing to do if he did not want it to be taken in any other way than at face value. http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/05/01/bush.carrier.landing/ http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/05/01/bush.transcript/
Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans, major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed. And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country. In this battle, we have fought for the cause of liberty and for the peace of the world. Our nation and our coalition are proud of this accomplishment, yet it is you, the members of the United States military, who achieved it. Your courage, your willingness to face danger for your country and for each other made this day possible. Because of you our nation is more secure. Because of you the tyrant has fallen and Iraq is free. Operation Iraqi Freedom was carried out with a combination of precision and speed and boldness the enemy did not expect and the world had not seen before. From distant bases or ships at sea, we sent planes and missiles that could destroy an enemy division or strike a single bunker. Marines and soldiers charged to Baghdad across 350 miles of hostile ground in one of the swiftest advances of heavy arms in history.
And tonight, I have a special word for Secretary Rumsfeld, for General Franks and for all the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States: America is grateful for a job well done.
In a world where pictures say a thousand words allowing that banner together with Bush as pilot and his own speech was a pretty huge PR snafu.
