Ok, so yesterday I had a novice reply to the Internet Safety message and the person was very rude. So, I replied back explaining that its an automatic message and I can't stop it. Then the person replied back and it was more of a rant to say the least.

Like, I'm not bothered by it. I'm just wondering has anyone ever experienced this? This was the first time for me. Not many of my novices reply to those messages but ones that have before, have always been polite and said something like "thanks".

nope, i think only one novice replied to it and she wanted help..

most of the novices i get don't even read the messages and normally go offline practically straight away lol

Oh, absolutely. I got one message from someone who had obviously been receiving the 'refer a friend' message quite a bit that said 'fuck' 27 times, 'cunt' nine times and a bunch of other ones too that I've forgotten.

You should see the flames we get when we remove people's posts :) Those are funny.

I've had a couple of novices telling me to stop sending them the 'refer a friend' messages, but normally they have backed off when I explained that it is nothing to do with me.

Oh yeah... I even had one harass me until no end. It got to the point where I had to report them. Next thing I knew they were banned for being a PBM/troll.

This was before I was a mod, btw.

All the time, unfortunately. I've learned to not even reprimand, I just ignore them. It honestly means absolutely nothing to me anymore when someone replies with SHUT UP YOU WANNA BE MOD BITCH. I used to take it personally when I first because a support leader, but I honestly don't think twice anymore. The way I look at it, there are decent members out there that actually need my support and time of day... and I'd rather spend my energy on them than rude novices that will probably never return.

I had a novice close the account after receiving the internet safety warning. He responded to it "HOW DID YOU GET MY EMAIL" and then promptly closed his account, with the only thing written for his reason of closing being "Major"

A lot of people get mad at me for sending them refer a friend messages. They're usually fine once I tell them it's automated, but this one person kept insisting I turned off the automated message, and got really mad when I said I couldn't.

Other than that, someone has asked me to prove the Internet is dangerous.

I can't even remember any such messages that I get, I find that the appropriate reaction to them is either amusement or indifference though.

Same with the stupid questions, with my family the rule is "ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer". but giving a stupid answer is too much effort, so I give no answer instead.

I got something similar to, "FUCK OFF YOU FUCKING BITCH. IF I WANT TO MEET SOMEONE I WILL SO DON'T TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK I CAN DO!"

Only in text speak with that alternating caps shiz. I find translating far too difficult.
