Done.

At first without your explanation I didn't see any sense to it. However I feel that the 3 referrals may be a bit too much.

Yeah, I agree with the 3 things.

But at first I thought the whole checklist was a crap and pathetic shit thingy.

But now, I think it's actually a very smart way of getting people involved, and expanding LW, by setting your moods, making words in the dictionary.

I love you David.

what if some people dont want their REAL LIFE friends on here?

Ditto. I can understand the other requirements (maybe even agree with them), but referrals? You're only going to push people away from the site for that one.

i refered people and it didnt go away, one of them even joined i know..whats the deal?

Did you refer them with your referral link?

If you did, they may have clicked it, left, then came back to LiveWire later and signed up.  Did you get a message saying you referred one new member?

As well, make sure you've completed all the other checklist items (find it in your My Account page).

What referral bloomin' link? I'm confused. I went to my account, clicked refer a friend, typed their email in, they told me on MSN they got an email, followed it through and joined... Where the fuck am I going wrong?

Did they verify their email yet?

You know, in technology, we would call this "feature creep".

No, we would call this a bloody stupid idea that was a waste of time to implement and is essentially worse than useless.

Same here.  I originally donated because I believed this to be a half-way decent support site.  LiveWire's only real purpose currently seems to be that of entertainment.  Why is "support" even still in the motto?  How is adding a word to the dictionary helpful?  What about inviting real life friends to view topics that you originally posted here for help without bringing people you know into it?  What about people that have no friends?  Real supportive.  That'll make them feel great.

If you want more people here, try adding something worth being here for.  How about support forums for those with issues you don't give a shit about?  In my opinon, teen parenting deserves a forum.  I'm sure teen parents need a good bit more support on that subject than they do for glamour & fashion, sports, or tv.  What about those with debilitating conditions (e.g. paralysis, downs syndrome, deaf, juvenile diabetes, etc)?

But then, I've forgotten.  You're more concerned about numbers than producing a site that's of any higher quality than a glorified middle school co-ed locker room.

I'm torn. Half of me says, sure....I could've gotten a bunch of nice chocolate bars to stuff my face with instead of supporting this site. Half of me has enjoyed the ad-free portions and (at the time) it felt good to support the site and I won't begrudge that now just because things are a little low.

Why is "support" even still in the motto?  How is adding a word to the dictionary helpful?

Oh come on. I added "babymama" to the dictionary! Everyone needs to know what that word means.

I have pitched the idea of a forum for teen parents to mods and David before and basically been told we're not worth it. There are "other sites" for us and our issues are small enough to crammed in with hygiene and sexuality forums.

I second your idea though. There's so many more positive ways to encourage people to come.

He could give bigger avatars or some sort of more flashy graphic to people who donate or refer. He could give more siggy room to such people. Or more profile room. Or better profiles. Or more customization options. Make certain smilies only available to people who complete certain options (like the now mandatory checklist).

It sounds lame but a lot more people would do it for those sorts of rewards than having their cookies taken away and dangled above their heads.
