It sounds to me like you were just trying to be a good friend, and I don't think you did anything wrong. Frankly, she sounds ungrateful, but I could sort of understand her dislike for others helping her, Some people just don't like accepting charity, no matter how much of a rutt they are in. I think that you really need to talk to her about this and ask her why exactly she's mad at you. Tell her everything you've told us, that you worked hard for that money and that you care about her and was just trying to do a nice thing. If she doesn't want to talk to you, try writing a letter. If necessary, back off and let her deal with her feelings on her own. She'll get over it with a little time. It's entirely possible to fix this, and remain friends. Good luck.
