of time, I messaged people before hiding their posts. The result? Around three times more abuse. And not reportable abuse, but enough abuse to make me feel annoyed. So was there really a point? I started doing it because Blue Automatic (Red revolver) PM'd me after I hid one of her replies to what even she termed as a 'spam' topic, saying SL's were too trigger happy with the hide button. I explained it through to her, was clear, and polite. Now missy has a chip on her shoulder. But that isn't the point. Every time I suggest someone amend a post, I would, more or less without fail, get told to stfu, or words to that effect. So no more! Do you PM people before post hidings?

Generally, no. Occasionally I will if I think the post is borderline, or if there is just one problem with it and the rest is fine. I'd rather give the person a chance to edit first. But if it's just a non-contribution, or something, I usually just hide it.

Never did. I always reply if someone asks for clarification or whatever, but if it's borderline or needs editing, I generally just reported it rather than doing it myself. Now, of course, I just deal with it.
