You have to be 23 in order for them to automatically call you independent in college for financial aide. You will still need to use your parents' information, even though they are not paying anything. Here's the link to the questions the other user talked about;

Also, check with the financial aid office at your school and talk to them about it. They are more up to date and more informational on things like this.

There are some strict guidelines about how you'd qualify as an independent when filling out your FAFSA. Check the website and there's a list of 7 or so criteria and you have to meet at least one. I already moved away from home but I still had to use my parents' info. You still use your own info too.
