hey peeps
im currently a highschool student looking into college admission
i am really torn between what schools to choose
I live in canada and want to major in engineering, so for canadian schools i am considering U of T (i like queens as well)
I recently (well not really) did my SAT I and got a score of 2100. Right now i'm looking into SAT II physics and math (lvl2).
If you live in the states, what are my chances of getting into schools such as, say.. Berkeley/stanford and such?
Recently the US school hype's really starting to annoy me. I really dont think you can sort out a BEST school (even though there are countless rankings out there), its just about the publicity of the school and its funding.
So what's your take?
does going to a well known US school dictate your career/earning/life THAT MUCH?
What's your opinion on US education vs Canadian education?

Berkeley's hard for out-of-state, but that's a hella good SAT score.   Are your grades good?

oh yeah that brings up another question
i usually get all A's but i got a B this term
but my average is still 92-93 ish
would that translate to a 4.0 GPA?

if you're taking any honors class at all then it'll be above a 4.0 anyway.  those are fine.  you could get into berkeley w/ that.  i'll hopefully be going there too...unless id ecide to go somewhere else

Go to Western.  My brother's graduating from electrical engineering there this year and he's had amazing opportunities.  He hasn't earned a penny in a year and is living off of the money he's earned from his internship.  And he's still got 20 grand to spare!!

Or like, Waterloo.

you really have to visit and see what they have to offer in your field of study. some schools may be overall ranked high, but in individual major rankings they may be low. so look into that.
but i don't know anything about canadian schools...so no advice on that aspect, sorry!

stanford is good, but you really don't choose to go there...they choose you... i've known people with amazing grades/scores who havn't gotten in, and others with not as good grades/scores who have so it really all depends... you could definitely get into berkeley with that though

I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it.
