She's being unfair. Part of being a responsible adult is handling your money properly, and part of proper money management is going over checks before depositing them. She was at fault, SHE cost the both of you money, and you owe her NOTHING more than the original number on the first check you gave her. This is her ten-dollar mistake (and your 35-dollar unfair consequence). Don't pa her more than the original check amount, and I suppose you should just mention from now when a check is post-dated. But it really is her fault for not checking, it was her check to cash.
