Answer ALL! I do not want people to come in here saying, "The answer to #1 is [insert answer here], but I don't know about the others."

Answer all questions, PLEASE, or do not reply at all.

Questions:

#1: What are the general education requirements for the bachelor of science degree?

#2: What are the general educatuon requirements for the bachelor of liberal arts degree?

#3: Can I go to community college to get my general education courses out of the way THEN transfer to a 4 year college as a junior to do my major courses?

That is all. Thank you.

The requirments vary by school. My college goes like this...the only difference between a BA and BS is that a BS needs 6 more math credits, and the BA needs 6 more language credits. And that's it.
For number 3...yes. I heard that w/ my local community college, you have to transfer by 30 credits. So if you come in with AP credits, retrocredits. Or you just get to 30 quick...it will vary when you go to the actual college.

Dude, whats the problem with answering one? If you get three people, each of whom answer ONE of the questions, you'll have a full set. You're more likely to get answers that way, too.

One and two-  Depends on the school.  If you know what school you want to go to, pick up their catalogue, it will detail the requirements for you.  Their website might have that information as well.

Three-  Yes, you can.  That's what a lot of people do, including myself.  It's a good way to save money, too.

Each of your questions completely depend on the schools.  The general requirements will vary, and whether or not you can take the courses at another school will vary in general.  Certain classes MUST be taken at the 4 year school for it to count.

You can look into specifically colleges and look at their transfer plans.  Your best bet is to contact the junior college that you would like to go to, and ask them what kind of transfer plans they have for each of those majors, and whether or not they had something you could view online.

For example, if you are in California, try looking up the IGETC plan, some schools have it.  It's a transfer plan that allows you to take classes that are accepted at a UC or state school.

In terms of number three, that is DEFINITELY something you can do.  You take two years of junior college and get all the general education requirements done.  Again a counsellor can make sure you take courses that will be accepted by the school you want to transfer in to.

So look into individual schools.  I'm planning on going to a 4 year college, and over summer and maybe during normal semesters start taking courses at a junior college.  It's cheaper :).

general education requirements mean that they are to be taken by everyone regardless of their program. they are not set classes. they are usually categories of classes, e.g.: GER in Humanities, GER in Social Science, etc.

you need to check with the schools you intend to apply to and ask if they approve of the classes you plan to take from the cc. most public schools would. private schools, a lot more tricky.
