Okay... so it's true. I'm a sophomore, and I loved my first year, but I just didn't have any luck with relationships. I was really upset about it for a while, but then I think I realized that it's because I'm really intimidating. I'm okay with this, but I'm just thinking that if you guys had any advice or just plain thoughts about the issue, it would be lovely to know what you think.

I know "intimidating" is vague, but I really hate having to describe the situation because it makes me sound awful. I'm fairly attractive - athletic and normal. I have a really high GPA, I'm bilingual, and I love love LOVE my independence. I think people think that because I don't 'need' a boyfriend, I don't want one. That's just not true though :(

Oh man - if you have anything, let me know :) and thanks in advance ;)

Heh...Your independence is quite a deterrent.  A guy would like a girl that is somewhat dependent, or at least acts, on him....gives him a feeling of being a man.  Sexist?  Yes.  But that's just how it is.

Also if you are popular it is a deterrent.  Only popular guys ask out popular girls.  Kinda generalized.  Of course, there are some instances where unpopulars ask populars...

No, that's fine. I get it. I know that it is how it is, I just wish it wasn't. It seems like the populars would be the ones with the dates, but it's just not like that. Blaaaah. Thanks though.

Frankly you describe my girlfriend to a "T."

I am seriously attracted to strong, independent girls that know exactly who they are and what they will accept.   I am also exactly the same way as a male.  I don't compromise on anything and she keeps me grounded.  I know that I am intimidating to most males but females see me as friendly, warm and easy to get along with regardless of their age, orientation, race or physical appearance.

My only suggestion to you is to watch for Mr. Right.  He is out there and looking for someone just like you.  Be patient.
