Change #1:

Change #2:
Support is possible through PMs. It would appear that I don't help anyone ever, but I generally just help out through PM.

Change #3a:
There are problems that just don't really go anywhere but DTRM.

Change #3b:

2 is a problem, I helped a lot through PM's maybe everytime support is sent through PM's there could be a link next to report message saying "Supportive message" This would be sent to a mod queue where they look at the history of that conversation (To make sure it isn't friends helping eachother) then if it is support they could click a supportive button to add it to the novice style page, or click a reject button so it isn't added to the page.

#1 wouldn't really help much. They're just zones, in which everyone asks for advice/support.

#2 would mean I'd probably be demoted =P

and no one would really like #3. A 'spam' forum? wtf.

#1 Thats correct, but it'd be a hell of a lot easier to find support.

#2 A large number of unhelpful SL's would be demoted, thats the idea.

#3 No one would, but it would stop a lot of the crap coming through here.

#1 I still don't see the necessity.
#2 I get it. I just don't care for it. Some SL's hardly have time to respond to many eHelps. Not everyone's life revolves around LiveWire. They offer advice when they can.
#3 Not earning points wouldn't stop spammers. Making a spam forum wouldn't either. I don't see how all the crap coming through here would stop.

#1 It's easier, thats it.

#2 No they don't but is it hard to give a few quality replies every month or so?

#3 Giving no points wouldn't stop everyone, but it would deter some, which is better than detering others. Also a spam forum would stop a lot of crap getting into the fresh topics.

If someone is getting help through PM, they generally don't want it announced to the world, eh? They entrust you with a problem, not you and the mod squad.

Scrap the whole "demotion from lack of support" idea. The status quo seems fine. Anyway, if we have forced replies, it'll probably lower quality. People will just reply to keep their status, not to help.

It wouldn't be a forced to post. It's not gonna kill people to see a topic they could help in and post a few times a month. When I was an SL sometimes I saw topics which I knew I could help in, but I didn't. If we had this, I know I would've posted in them. I'm not asking for like 50 every 3 months to keep a position, just a few every month.

I came to this topic all prepared to laugh in your face and call you stupid.

Sadly, I think that you have a few good ideas. I love the third.

I agree with this. I might not be the most active supporter via eHelp system, but pm and msn are also forms, plus, sometimes I just can't do them, like for the last month, where I can't just do them like normal, because I'm on a laptop, and my setting and mood changes because of it, and I'm not used to it yet. But that doesn't mean I don't support

If there was a problem you could always let your mod know. I understand, because when I was an SL I used PM more than the forums, anyone have a suggestion of how we could track this?

I really like this idea. I have thought of something similar to this awhile ago, even suggested it to David. But this is more of a refined idea of that, which I really like. It would also help boost the Tech and College forum.

I don't really get why it has to be split up in that manner. It took me over a year to even realize that there was a College and a Tech forum. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought that as well. It would be great if there was some way to show that they do indeed exist.

Change 2:

That's another similar idea to mine as well. I like the idea that SLs are assigned to mods- it would really help with organization and making sure that the SLs actually do what they're supposed to be doing. Only thing is I wouldn't even do the time limit thing and "releasing them." It wouldn't hurt to keep them under a mod's wing.

Change 3:

This is the only one I didn't agree with. A lot of people need to let out their stress, pain, and whatever else is on their mind. Many people deal with problems in different ways. DTRM isn't nearly as bad as it used to be and as long as no one is blatantly breaking the rules, such as telling another member to go kill themselves and such... why not? It's an outlet for some people, and I will agree that some need to learn boundaries and when too much is too much. But I don't think we need to completely break it down to pieces and force people to be soldiers of complete support, ya know?

I REALLY LIKE THIS:

Change 2: Better SL moderating.

Many SL's just grab ten replies and apply, they get through and then all they do is enjoy their badge and post removing powers. I propose that every SL is assigned to a mod, kinda the same way that novices get assigned to an SL. This could give the mods a page similar to the novice page, where they could keep track of the number of eHelps replied to, and number of serious forum replies. After a period of time (60-90 days?) the moderator will be prompted to see how well the SL has done over 60 days, if they haven't come up to the mods standard then they can be demoted. This will be done every time period (60-90 days) to make sure the SL'S are not abusing powers.

I REALLY DON'T LIKE THIS:

Change 3: No points gained from DTRM

The spammers will hate this, and many people will oppose it due to them getting most of their points there. I believe if people didn't get points for posting in DTRM then they would post there less and more in the other forums, maybe a topic could catch their eye and they could help people, bringing more support, this would also bring down spam.

I like these ideas. Here are the two problems I forsee though:

1) We'd need a lot more mods. There are a lot of SLs, and the current team would not be ale to keep up on top of everything. And with precious few acceptable applications, I don't see where this is coming from.

2) You're asking a lot of David. If you haven't noticed, he's not to keen on doing work that doesn't increase the member base of this site, and what you're proposing may very well decrease that. I'm not sure he'd be willing to do it, even though it would definitely improve the site for everyone.
