I guess I'll give my opinion here too. 1) I really think that may make the support topics even harder to find. A lot of people would come, click around the regular forums and then leave without ever visiting the support section. The way it is now, people click fresh topics and sometimes read a plea for help and will feel a need to reply. In my opinion anyways. I can see the good and the bad. It would cut back on spam replies to support topics. But I also feel as though it will cut back on replies in general and fear the support section becoming as dead as the college section. 2) If you ask me, I would rather have too many support leaders than too few. Yeah, it sucks to see people with the badge who don't do anything. But if that person helps just one person that they couldn't have helped without being a support leader, then it's worth having that person as a SL. medjai's idea is intriguing. Making SLs compete to keep their position would be interesting. But not all SLs are competitive people. I really feel as though this would keep many excellent people from bothering to go for the position since it's so cutthroat. I completely agree with SLs not being able to have moderator powers any longer. I've always said that SLs are here to support. If they want to moderate, they can apply for that position. Moving topics and hiding replies are nothing more than distractions that keep SLs focused on their 'other duties' rather than replying to ehelps and serious forum topics. Support leaders are not moderators, they have entirely different roles. 3) I can agree with no points for DTRM replies. But making a spam forum is ridiculous, in my opinion. If you want to bring back support, why create a forum dedicated to spam? It just encourages that behavior. But I also worry about people posting in other forums with spammy replies just to get points. Mods can't see everything, they aren't robots. So some of that spam would slip through and decrease the quality of replies in the other forums. So there, my thoughts. Post edited at 5:01 am on July 20, 2008 by audrey820

Moderation isn't as much about peer support as support leadership is, to be honest. I really don't think that being a support leader should even be a requirement for moderation, because good support leaders don't necessarily make good moderators and good moderators don't necessarily make good support leaders. They're completely separate roles. Honestly, in my opinion, "Support Leader" should be a higher billet than moderator, but for that to happen something like what I'm describing needs to take place. As for Jesse, I have no idea how supportive he is now or whatever, but he was good support leader when he was one, and he's a good mod now that he is one as well. I'm rather confident that other members could step up to the plate and do just as much as Jesse did, motivation providing, though. So it's not like he needs to be demoted so he can become support man again. And Circa to be 100% honest it sounds kind of like you have some kind of vendetta against Katyduck and that maybe that's effecting you're judgment of her logic behind supporting what I'm saying. I mean it's not like she was the one that came up with taking away their privileges to delete shit, I did, and I know it'd be unpopular, but that's exactly why I want to do it. Like you said, moderation privileges seem to destroy support leadership, I only came up with the idea of taking away support leader's abilities to delete posts because it's so obvious that the support leader billet starting getting fucked once they gained them, it was a really obvious downhill stride from there. Now they focus on deleting shit to look like good support leaders rather than, well, peer support.

haha, you dumb bitch. it's not about you.
dont hurt her overinflated sense of self-importance on topic, i honestly think this site is essentially worthless, unless the administration and fundamental nature of it change. you cant fix shit if the foundation is completely broken Post edited at 3:19 pm on July 20, 2008 by prisoner of hss

as to the idea that mods would "miss" things I disagree. if we " miss " something it means it was so insignificant that no one even bothered to submit misconduct on it, if no ones offended or bothered then it doesnt matter much and moderating it would be excessive censorship anyway. I mean where is the logic in deleting things for the sake of deleting them rather than for the sake of the integrity of the site, its counter productive to be excessive.
