Trying to apply for a job...

Since college started, I've really found out how expensive everything is. My parents are paying for everything left and right (including my whole tuition-- ouch!) so I've been wanting to help them... especially after the all the money they gave me for this week disappeared because of textbooks and apartment things.

So I've decided to get a job near the apartment complex I'm living in but every place I've looked into has been asking for a resume. I've never worked a day in my life! I've never even volunteered very much. What can I do?

McDonalds don't ask for resume because it's a first job for a lot of people. Try there.

Work at McDonald's. Then, they may hire you. They like teens with so called "experience".

You can work with the career center at your school to work with someone who can provide you the resources required to start building a resume.

You can put just about anything on a resume, especially since you have little work experience.

Wow they're paying for everything? You seem very spoiled. But the point is your trying to help. Just get work experience.

You're screwed. You didn't get scholarships either, eh? Well, start now, I guess. Find a volunteer position and a job. Get involved. For the resume, I guess just don't put anything.

I learned that in grade 9 and don't have to pay my tuition. :P

I actually steered clear away from any fast food places in my job hunt. The environment isn't for me, but I think I'll have to do that as a last resort.

The career center! Thank you, I'd forgotten about that. I'll stop by there on Tuesday.

Haha, yeah. I actually didn't even apply for any  scholarships, though I know I should have. My parents can pay the tuition just fine (we haven't needed to take out any loans thus far) but I feel bad that I didn't even bother to help them pay for anything. Hopefully once I get a job I can help them out some.
