This is a discussion about ethics, not science.

Go.

Scientific progress should and does occur within an environment which includes ethical considerations.

Ill effects are an inevitable possibility, but should the pursuit of knowledge be limited by relative and subjective notions of morality?

in my opinion, we as humans, should strive for knowledge.  there are many things we could do if we didnt moraly find them wrong.  and so much knowledge could be gained from those "moraly wrong" experiments

If ethics are to be defined as how one should act, they should govern all actions. There is nothing magical about actions done in the name of science that removes them from ethical scrutiny.

We should take science as far as we possibly can without any consideration for ethics other than not killing people to do it.

We should take science as far as we possibly can without any consideration for ethics other than not killing people to do it.

So the experiment which leaves a man brain-dead but technically alive is OK? As well as the study that leaves a young child/youth/adult emotionally scarred forever?

Raising two children in complete isolation in a scientific study to observe their behavior would be a-OK, after all, it's not as though you're killing them?

The accumulation of information.
Is there really any information worth the loss of man's humanity?
