DO NOT tell me that I shouldn't do it, because it will piss me off and I'm going to do it regardless. But ya if I give myself a monroe at home, what are some things I should watch out for? I need tips on finding possible veins in that area the most, that's my main concern. Also, I don't want to end up paralyzing my face or piercing it so incorrectly that my lip will need to be cut off. I'm also worried that if it got severely infected, but I would sterilize properly. I would burn the needle, wash it, soak it in hydrogen peroxide, wash my hands, and use some type of mouthwash. So hopefully that will limit my chance for infection. I've used a fake stud to see what it would look like, and I love it. I'm looking forward to doing it as long as I do it safely. Tips appreciated! :)

I have done all of my piercings by hand, first you need to Ice down the place where you are going to pierce, for 1, to numb the are and 2 it is easier to see viens, you may want a friend to help you with spotting viens.

Once you know where the viens are, try to angle your needle straight, as if you get it pierced at a angle it will be quite strange. make sure to use a Lemon, i know it sounds stupid but the acid in it does help sterelize the needle (which you should boil anyways) and keep infection out. after you are done with the piercing I would say go get yourself some cleaning fluid (you can buy it at most tat parlors) and just keep it clean.

*but FYI I dont have that piercing, nor will I get one. this is what I have done for all previous piercings.

Enjoy your infection. Burning a needle does not sterilize it. Soaking it in peroxide does not sterilize it. Washing it, with what I will assume would be normal anti-microbial handsoap does not sterilize it.

Being ignorant and claiming you plan to force a blunted, filthy piece of metal through sensitive tissue accomplishes absolutely nothing but a disgusting scar and plenty of regrets.

Wait until you have a slight idea of what you're talking about before even considering any sort of facial piercing. Just because other morons have gotten away without infection doesn't make their techniques safe or anything even remotely comparable.

Edit: Spelling error.

Do you know how medical tools are sterilized? With EXTREME HEAT. I think the burning, washing, and hydrogen peroxide combined would act together to greatly reduce the risk of infection. They may not take away any bacteria completely but they will be clean. I'm not forcing a blunted, filthy piece of metal into myself either. It's a very sharp and clean piercing needle. Oh and I do know what I'm talking about.
And I've seen many people with monroe piercings, and when they go without wearing the piercing, the hole was really unnoticeable so that's the least of my worries.

you are very stupid.  Medical supplies (as well as piercing supplies) are sterilized with an autoclave, that uses both high heat and steam pressure.  Boiling, peroxide, washing... none of that will sterilize.

Where would you plan to find this "EXTREME HEAT"? A lighter? A match? Your stove? I sincerely doubt you have any proper access to an autoclave, and beyond that, I sincerely doubt you even know what an autoclave is, at least judging by your far-fetched claims of proper sterilization.

Do you even know the proper size gauge at which to do the piercing? Or did you just buy an inexpensive piece of metal with the name 'piercing needle' attached? If you had truly bought a clean piercing needle, why would you even suggest cleaning it? It should be packed in a sterile, unopened package. Those needles are single use for a reason, by the way. They become blunt after a single piercing and are capable of harboring various blood-borne pathogens, and for that reason, need proper sterilization.

Honestly now, do you really think that knowing people and seeing them with a monroe piercing makes you know anything about proper piercing technique? From your original post I can tell that you know nothing of the subject, and that's why I've taken the time to post in this thread.

Do yourself a huge favor and learn about piercings before you mar your face permanently.

I hate reading this shit over and over again, and I especially hate people trying to defend their ridiculously improper ideas of body modification.

I did NOT say it would sterilize it, but doing those combined with the needle being unused and clean to begin with will clean it and reduce the infection. Dumbass. Don't call me stupid again because you cannot tell if I'm stupid or not from one topic on an internet forum.

While I'm aware that the 'stupid' part of this comment was not directed towards me, because I didn't say that, I would like to point out that the only reason I put so much effort into these responses is because I'm tired of people shoving dirty metal into their skin and calling it a piercing. Piercers spend thousands of dollars and years worth of time learning proper technique. To ram a filthy needle into any part of your body, automatically contaminated a brand new fistula is absolutely stupid. The act is stupid and the idea is stupid, and while someone else opted for the ad hominem argument, I opted for fact.

Go to a professional. If you're not of age, which I'm assuming is the main issue here, then wait until you are. I have had and still have quite a few piercings, and I've done a few myself using proper materials and the proper techniques, and I will always stand by the work of a true professional. Rather than waste time and risk your health and appearance, why not just wait two+ years, for what would likely be a piercing on a whim anyway.

Hah, no shit I know what an autoclave is, and just because it is so widely-used doesn't make it the only way you can sterilize something. And it's not like this is the first time I've pierced anything on myself. First time piercing in the area of my lip, yes.

...again, you cannot sterilize with any of the methods that you plan on using.

An autoclave is one of the only ways to sterilize properly, which is why it is widely used.

This is likely the last reply I will post, because I'm frustrated with the absolute ignorance here.

Use of an autoclave is the best way to commercially sterilize items for piercings. If it wasn't, autoclaves would not be used. Burning any piece of metal does nothing more than carbonize it, making it turn black. That does not come close to sterilizing it at all. To believe anything other than that is absolute ignorance on the subject.

Aside from that, and in response to the latter part of your response, just because you've pierced other parts of your body doesn't make anything you've done proper or clean. Ears and the like are very easy to piercing with little to-do, but facial piercings require express care and should be cared for accordingly. I don't doubt that you possess some intelligence and I don't know that I would go so far as to call you entirely stupid, but I know far more about piercings than a lot of other people and for that reason, I dislike it very much when people make topics like this.

If you are really sure you want this piercing, get it done by someone with real experience. Have a parent bring you, wait until you are of consenting age, or find a piercing you plan to keep for more than a few years.
