It's fun and fulfilling, but the problem is, when I try to listen to any song that I know how to play, I can't listen to it in an innocent form; I have to think about the different parts to the song, how they're formed, how it's played, the timing, the chord changes...all of that. And when I listen to something new, I have to figure out how it's played, or how it's at least organized, and I can never just enjoy listening. It's annoying. It's probably common for people (anyone) to do this, but it sorta bugs me, because when I didn't know how to play anything, I would just listen to the song, and let the music and the words make me think about different things, and so the songs were more meaningful. Now it seems like a chore, almost. At least tonight it does. /stupid rant that no one will give a shit about.

I can play 5 instruments and I can honestly say I can disconnect myself from the piece actually, I have perfect pitch and just focus on the notes and the colors that they make and don't worry about knowing how to play it myself.
------- I thought I bored me but I learned to think like you

I'm an avid singer and formerly avid pianist, in AP Theory I find it worse, because, being in a Music Theory class ruins your idea of music. You think music seems to be a spontaneous wonderous formation of notes to make a beautiful melody when you're uneducated. When you learn about Ionian through Locrian modes, Harmonic minors, Parallel fifths, etcetera, you can't listen through a piece of music without saying "Oh my god, there's Sol, the dominant pitch, but then where's the submediant?"
