This is a question I read somewhere...

alright in a poor town Renold's wife is sick and dying. There's only one medicine maker in town, and he has the antidote that can cure his wife. The medicine maker sells the anecdote for much more than it costs to make it so that he can profit greatly from his genius skill. Renold and his wife can't afford it and when he asked the medicine maker if he'd spare some for his wife, the medicine maker said no.  

Renold thinks of breaking into the medicine maker's shop so he can steal some medicine and cure his wife.

Would it be right or wrong for him to do this and why?

legally wrong?  its stealing...  but the medicine maker is morally wrong for allowing to someone to die so he can make a profit.  i think Renold should take the medicine and then when his wife is cured deal with the consequences.

It definitely wouldn't be right, but it wouldn't be necessarily wrong either. It's still stealing, but imo the good in saving a life outweighs the bad in stealing an overpriced medicine.

This is sorta like the situation where a person steals bread to feed the family.  But stealing is stealing.  I really dont know, tbh.

Its right. Stealing is wrong, but come on. Its to save a life. I find it right, and I would do the same, no hesitations

I don't think there is a right or wrong. Yes he is stealing, but he is not stealing because he wants to harm the doctor, he just wants to save his wife.

Saving the life would be the intention, stealing the action. Like I said, unjust actions aren't made right by good intention.

Maybe he wasn't talking about the way Im thinking.  But when I read that I was thinking about how a doctor is trying to save a life but yet maybe takes it.  Maybe he did something wrong.  He had the right intentions and everything, but hes still a thief of life.

I'm gonna say it's neither right nor wrong. When he breaks in, there is no medicine because the medicine maker had an ANECDOTE, which is a story told to illustrate a point. Renold thought he said ANTIDOTE, which could actually have saved her. This is what the manipulative maker relies on for income, because he actually has no money so he tricks people into paying him to hear his stories.
