My parents were not very social when they were my age & I never really put the effort into socializing and having many friends in high school. I wasn't even the popular one in my clique

I think I overwhelmed myself in the beginning of college .. trying to keep a social life that I know now is impossible cause it's just too much at once for me. The insecurities that i thought i left in high school are coming back so its kind of affecting the relationships with the friends i already made

Has anyone overcome their insecurities throughout college and became more confident??

Insecurities?I have none.
I just don't care what people say or think. LOL , so pretty much just be yourself and  don't try too hard to get attention, people notice when you try too hard.
I notice that with so many people...they look like pathetic and sad.

yes, i know what you mean.
im a freshman in college, but i made it my goal to overcome my insecurities too. my mom says that she was just like me when she was my age, but now she's the most outgoing person I know. she tells me that you can't always be afraid in life because you would end up missing so much.
she also said that, the way she overcame her shyness, is by not caring about what people may think of you. just give up on that. in your mind, when you have negative thoughts, just think "fuck it" and do your own thing.
be true to yourself too, and do the things that u like to do. college isnt like high school so theres bound to be a few people who like to do the things u like to do, no matter how obscure it is.
and dont be 100% sociable so fast. take it easy first. take baby steps.
and quit worrying, and enjoy college. college is supposed to be the best 4...or 5...or even 6 years of your life lol
